The early 1890s have gained the reputation as a very challenging period due to spots, blotchy toning and generally weak eye appeal. Whether the result of an inferior bronze source for the planchets or just poor preservation, 1888 begins a run of 6 years where many certified 65RD+ coins are undesirable. Prices have adjusted upwards on these dates as a result.
    1890 ($450/1,750), 1891 & 1892 (both $450/1,200) are very difficult dates to locate in attractive MS65 condition.
