The 12-coin pattern sets issued by the Mint in 1858 led to the Indian Head cent design as we know it today. Aproximately 100 sets were produced containing 11 patterns and the regular issue Flying Eagle cent (Small Letter). They were minted in 11 different die combinations from 3 obverse and 4 reverse designs:
